2012 Kashmir Cuvée

Winegrowing Information

The 2012 vintage was a grape grower’s dream season. Perfectly timed spring rains followed by moderate summertime temperatures created perfect growing conditions. There were no debilitating variations in weather during harvest. Because of consistent temperatures, the fruit ripened evenly producing great ripe fruit flavors and freshness. These were the ultimate conditions for growing extraordinary Cabernet Sauvignon.

Each hand harvested block of Kamen Estate Cabernet is fermented and barreled as an individual lot. In exceptional vintages, Kashmir cuvee is made from the thoughtful blending of our top lots producing a unique reserve wine that is aromatic, concentrated and developed.

Tasting Notes

This intensely aromatic wine sings from the glass with the perfume of ripe blackberry, wild raspberries, roasted plums, dark chocolate, Christmas fruitcake, charcoal, wet stone and the exotic hint of sandalwood. Sweet, lush fruit explodes on the palate. Concentrated and gripping yet ethereal and elegant. The wine’s expansive flavor profile delivers lush layers, firm yet silky tannins and a monumental finish. Enjoy now or cellar over the next 30 years.

Accolades

“The winery’s top lots were culled out for the 2012 Kashmir (100% Cabernet Sauvignon). Sadly, only six barrels were made of this quintessential North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon. Its inky/black/purple color is accompanied by a stunning perfume of charcoal, lead pencil shavings, blackberries and new oak. Full-bodied with beautiful purity and symmetry as well as a multidimensional mouthfeel, this stupendous 2012 red wine can be drunk over the next 15-20 years. 98 pts.” —Robert M.
