2014 Sauvignon Blanc

Winegrowing Information

In 2014, the dry, arid climate persisted in Northern California. The winter was unseasonably warm and dry which encouraged early bud break. Spring came with gentle rains and those saving rains added lushness to the growing season. Summer temperatures were moderate and consistently warm, which resulted in an early harvest, enhancing the floral aspects of the 2014 fruit. Eisele vineyard cuttings of Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Musqué were introduced to our vineyard in 2008. The exceptional soil drainage, fractured volcanic rock without ceilings of ash on Kamen Estate create the perfect spot for growing these varietals.

Tasting Notes

This explosively aromatic wine sings from the glass with notes of honeyed wildflowers, magnolia blossom, kiwi, lychee, green melon, exotic citrus and crushed granite. Freshly grated ginger, wild strawberries, ripe papaya and spearmint leaf add further complexity to the aromatic profile. The mouthfeel is lively and exuberant with intense layers of crisp green apple, white nectarine, honeydew melon and the slightest hint of Kaffir lime leaf. Superbly balanced, this wine is fleshy, textured and vibrant with fresh acidity and a long, clean finish.
