At the very beginning of the 2013 growing season, strong almost constant north winds blew through the vineyard from bud break right through bloom. Coupled with the drought conditions we have experienced in the last few years and warmer than usual temperatures, our vines in this vintage yielded small, intense clusters of fruit. The results were concentrated, focused flavors and rich, appealing aromatics.
Eisele vineyard cuttings of Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Musqué were introduced to our vineyard in 2008. The exceptional soil drainage, fractured volcanic rock without ceilings of ash on Kamen Estate create the perfect spot for growing these varietals.
This concentrated Sauvignon Blanc has expressive notes of kiwi, guava, pink grapefruit, lemon zest, and white peach. Layers of honeysuckle, wet stone, and Bosc pear skin add further dimension to the aromatic profile. The mouth is an intense expression of mountain Sauvignon Blanc with vibrant acidity and textured minerality. Giving lift and length, the acidity carries the wine to a long, lasting, and flavorful finish. This wine should drink wonderfully over the next 8–10 years.
